Community Involvement

At Harris Orthodontics, we cherish the incredible people that make up our local community. It’s the unique blend of backgrounds, cultures and personalities that make our area so special and vibrant.

Over the years, we have proudly supported many local sports teams, including the Hockey Teams, Narellan Netball, Bringelly Netball and most recently, the Narellan Rangers Soccer Club and Oran Park Rovers Soccer Club. Many of our patients have been gone on to represent the state—and even Australia—in their respective sports. Most recently, our practice has supported patients competing on the world stage, including the National Squad for Sports Aerobics and the World Championships for Gymnastics in Bulgaria.

Being part of these journeys is an honour and we take immense pride in supporting our patients beyond just their smiles.

Supporting Local Schools

Harris Orthodontics is also a proud supporter of local schools, including school fairs, raffles, and career market days. We believe in fostering a strong sense of community and helping schools raise much-needed funds to support students. Our contributions assist in providing valuable resources and donations for school raffles. Recently, we’ve contributed to local schools such as St. Paul’s Camden and raffle donations to Narellan Vale Public School, Bringelly Public School and St Benedict’s Oran Park.

Giving Back to the Community

You’ll often find the Harris Orthodontics team actively involved in various community initiatives. We recently participated in the Camden Colour Frenzy, supporting animal rescue efforts and our patients and staff generously contributed to the Salvation Army Macarthur’s Back-to-School Drive. Thanks to the kindness of our community, we donated brand-new school supplies, including backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, school shoes, crayons, pencils, and books, ensuring local children had everything they needed for a successful school year.

Our practice is also deeply committed to local charity fundraisers, including the Camden Flood Appeal Golf Day and most recently a proud business sponsor of the Bravery Buddies Fundraiser Charity Dinner. This initiative supports children experiencing medical-related hair loss. In a truly heartwarming moment, two of our incredible patients donated their long hair to be made into wigs for children in need. Dr. Harris proudly contributed to their fundraising efforts in support of Variety, a charity dedicated to helping children and families facing the challenges of childhood illness.

Extending Our Impact Globally

Our commitment to making a difference extends beyond our local borders. We are passionate about supporting global initiatives, with a special focus on empowering children and women.

One of the causes closest to our hearts is the Te-Kworo Foundation, which provides rehabilitation, education, and healthcare to girls who survived abduction by rebel forces in Northern Uganda. Founded by Alice Achan—who experienced these hardships firsthand—the foundation has helped over 4,000 girls through its three boarding schools and operates a maternal health clinic that serves a population of 300,000. Harris Orthodontics was also a proud business sponsor of the African Aids Foundation Annual Fundraiser and Art Exhibition held in Camden. This foundation works to create a better future for orphaned and vulnerable African children. Since 2000, Dr Harris and her family have supported children through Compassion International, making a lasting impact. Over 18 children have graduated from the program, and 42 children are currently supported by Dr Harris.

Through Compassion, we care for the most vulnerable—children living in extreme poverty—without ulterior motive. Compassion is a "love thy neighbour" ministry, dedicated to serving those in greatest need.

The children we support come from Brazil, Burkina Faso, Colombia, East Indonesia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, the Philippines, Tanzania, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mexico and Peru.

Essential resources to help break the cycle of poverty

On average, a Compassion-supported child spends 4,000 hours in a safe, nurturing environment. They are 50% more likely to graduate college and 35% more likely to secure professional employment.
